Zoom In: Short on-line films Sister Schools: Children Creating Community Across the Globe For over a year the students of the Hannah Senesh Community Day School Filmmaking Program were hard at work. Under the direction of professional documentary filmmaker Nicole Opper and with the support of Positive Planet and a grant from the Puffin Foundation, they produced ‘Sister Schools: Children Creating Community Across the Globe’ an 8-minute documentary. This film tells the story of our first sister school partnership between the Hannah Senesh Community Day School and the St. Andrews Matale Hill Primary School. Children and teachers from both schools speak movingly of how small acts of kindness and friendship have built a bridge across an ocean and are making a huge difference in the lives of both communities. Please take a few minutes and watch this moving film.
Hannah and Her Sister School The Mary McDowell Center for Learning, a Quaker school in Brooklyn, New York has participated in the Positive Planet Sister School Program since 2004. In the summer of 2007, 13 Mary McDowell teachers and administrators traveled to Uganda to visit their sister school to see the impact they were having and learn about the land and people of Uganda. Accompanied by professional filmmakers Doron Schlair and King Emmanuel Fuentebella, they produced an exciting documentary Hannah and her Sister School. Narrated by Mary McDowell student Hannah Sklar, the film tells the story of this exciting journey through the eyes of a child and the difference being made by these two school communities. Please take a few minutes and watch this moving film.
