What We Do: The Sister School Program

The International Dual Language School P.S. 24/ St Nicholas Mannya Primary School

In December of 2006, our fourth sister school partnership was established. P.S. 24, the International Dual Language School of Sunset Park Brooklyn is a public elementary school of approximately 1200 inner city children many of whom are recent immigrants to the United States. P.S. 24's sister school is the St Nicholas Mannya Primary School in Kyotera in the Rakai District of Uganda.

Mannya Primary School serves 670 students of which approximately one third are orphans. At present the school has only two classroom buildings one of which is without a functioning roof due to a recent storm. Positive Planet is excited about this new partnership as it provides us the opportunity to further expand our focus to reach out to new immigrants to New York while further serving the needs of our Ugandan children.
