Positive Planet is based on partnerships between school communities. We've recently begun to partner with other organizations.
Rotary International is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service and encourages high ethical standards in all vocations. As signified by the motto Service Above Self, Rotary’s main objective is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world.
In the summer of 2007 Positive Planet founders met with several Rotary Clubs in Uganda to work together on the Books for Africa project and hopefully other projects to improve local schools. We have also begun to partner with Rotary Clubs in the US to support this effort.
Books for Africa collects, sorts, ships and distributes books to children in Africa. Their goal: to end the book famine in Africa.
Books donated by publishers, schools, libraries, individuals and organizations are sorted and packed by volunteers who carefully choose books that are age and subject appropriate. This year, Positive Planet is partnering with Books for Africa to send a 40 ton shipping container of books to schools in Uganda. The effort is being led by US high school students. Cyber-NY is a full service interactive agency that helps businesses and non-profit organizations succeed online.
Cyber-NY generously offered to donate time and talent to help Positive Planet improve its website and use of on-line technologies. We thank them for the energy and expertise they brought into this venture.
The Puffin Foundation The Puffin Foundation Ltd. has sought to open the doors of artistic expression by providing grants to artists and art organizations who are often excluded from mainstream opportunities due to their race, gender, or social philosophy..
Puffin has assisted Positive Planet by providing funding for the on-line film Sister Schools: Children Creating Community Across the Globe as well as for the pen-pal communications and general support
